Stone
structures have exisited for centuries.
Rock is the longest lasting building material
available, and is usually readily available.
There are many types of stone through out
the world all with differing attributes
that make them better or worse for particular
uses. Rock is a very dense material so it
gives a lot of protection too, its main
draw-back as a material is its weight and
awkwardness. Its energy density is also
considered a big draw-back, as stone is
hard to keep warm with out using large amounts
of heating resources. Circular huts were
constructed from loose granite rocks throughout
the Neolithic and early Bronze Age, and
the remains of an estimated 5,000 can still
be seen today. Granite continued to be used
throughout the Medieval period and some
civilisations were built entirely with stone
such as the Pyramids in Egypt, the Aztec
pyramids and the remains of the Inca civilisation.
At Absolute Stone we use a varity of stones
for our counter tops including, Granite,
Marble,
Limestone
and Slate.

The process begins when we receive your
material from the quary. We invite the client
to visit our showroom, review the stone
and approve its look. Because stone countertops
are a natural product variations in color
can be significant sometimes. Once the client
has selected and approved the final material,
we then overlay your countertop template
to capture the best features of the stone.
Finally we move the material into our fabrication
department where it is cut and polished
to perfection, removing all blemishes. Then
our team carefully transports your countertop
to your home for installation by our team.
Because we use our crew from start to finish
there is no finger pointing. We won't leave
the job until you are completely satisfied.

Granite
is usually a white, black or buff color.
It has a medium to coarse grain. Outcrops
of granite tend to form rounded boulders
cropping out of flat, sandy soils. Marble
is a metamorphic rock resulting from the
metamorphism of limestone, composed mostly
of calcite. Limestone
is a sedimentary rock composed largely of
the mineral calcite. Limestones often contain
variable amounts of silica in the form of
chert or flint, as well as varying amounts
of clay, silt and sand as disseminations,
nodules, or layers within the rock. Slate
is a fine-grained, homogeneous, metamorphic
rock derived from an original shale-type
sedimentary rock composed of clay or volcanic
ash through low grade regional metamorphism.

We offer a wide range of edge designs for
your countertop. Edge treatments for countertops
may vary depending upon the materials you
choos. The square edge is the most common,
particularly with laminates, wood and tile.
Bullnose is a safe, practical edge that
makes a countertop look substantial. Ogee
is more decorative-and possible only with
certain materials. For more decorative appearance,
a detail of wood, metal or a different color
is sometimes sandwiched between layers of
laminate, solid surfacing or stone. Click
to see our edge profiles.

Prior to installation, your countertops
were soaked with a penetrating sealer. We
recommend sealing once a year. This will
help prevent the absorption of any compound
in question. While stains are rare, they
are caused most frequently by wine, vinegar,
citric acid such as lemon or grapefruit
juice, and cooking oil. Do not store bottles
of these products directly on your granite.
When using these products wipe clean any
of the countertops that came in contact
with them when you are finished. Learn
more.

In
our new facility in Preston Woods we will
have a state of the art collection process
that will recycle the dust, allowing Absolute
Stone to be both good neighbors and stewards.
We invite you to stop by and take a tour
of our plant.
